Pitchfork Paris, now in its third year, descended on Parc de la Villette this past weekend. For three days, Grande Hall de la Villette played host to festival-goers (both gleeful dancers and the statue-still alike) traipsing quickly back and forth between two stages at opposing ends of the vast space. The list of performers was solid, but it didn’t come without disappointment in the form of some high profile cancelations (Deerhunter, Ariel Pink). These omissions didn’t seem to hamper the mood, though

Quite the contrary: Throngs of people arrived throughout the course of the weekend to see up-and-coming acts like Only Real; Sky Ferreira sporting a jet black wig; veteran stalwarts Yo La Tengo; the rapid-fire lyrics of Danny Brown; harder edged guitar-driven sets from Iceage, Savages, and Deafheaven; beatmakers from the groove-oriented (Mount Kimbie) to dance floor instigators (Disclosure); and dozens more. The bill included something for everyone. Place all of this in one of the world’s most beautiful cities and you have the makings of a great festival. Relive it below.
